The Cave is a new adventure platform game where you assemble a team of 3 from a choice of 7 different characters.

• The Knight
• The Hillbilly
• The Time traveller
• The Scientist
• The Adventurer
• The Twins
• The Monk

All have their own unique back stories and actions which I’m sure will serve a purpose down in the Cave!

My first thoughts were, great introduction (from the cave himself!) even though it is set in a dark a dreary cave it is full of colour, detail and is very nice to look at, especially on the Wii U as this is displayed in true 1080 HD.
Cave1

From the start this looks a fun and interesting platformer with tons of re-playability.

With only a limited amount to play through the demo I immediately wanted more! With the interesting puzzles, characters and monsters that say to me Day of the Tentacle and Monkey island (your classic point and click) but with running and jumping of your more current day platform games.

The only frustrating part of this I found was controlling 3 players one at a time can be tough as it involves a lot of going back and forth which can feel slightly repetitive.
From what I have heard there is co-op but only local.

Cave2

This would be a good game to play sat next to a friend but would work so much better online co-op in the same style of Little big Planet.

This of course in not a huge AAA title but for the price you pay you will be getting a good game and I am intrigued to find out more of what goes on in The Cave.

At the moment, personally it going to take a lot to get me to buy new games this year. Especially smaller “Indie” games as I have a huge pile of shame as it is!
This has definitely done enough to make me fork out and go all in, and for those I suggest you do the same its enjoyable enough and won’t take 10 – 20 hours to complete the main quest (apparently 4-5 hours).

For only £9.99 on the Nintendo store it’s well-priced and for those early adopters of the Wii U (Me and Adam2Marsh!) I believe with the purchase of the Wii U premium console when you register you get a £5 voucher for the Nintendo Wii U shop making this potentially £4.99!!

Still unsure? Thenwe’ve got 1 last trick up our sleeve, below is ma video showing off the WiiU Demo -

So much presence from Double Fine on the PC lately, it’s really great to see! The Cave looks to be another winner from them, exploration & adventure in some really beautiful environments, who wouldn’t love that! =]
